Part of the way through the Union St Tunnel is this air shaft which emerges in the back gardens of the houses above and can be seen from the road. The drop from the top of the air shaft to the tunnel floor is about 20 metres (just an estimate) and when looking up you can see the various parts of the rock that they had to dig through to create it.
